# Restart Privacy Policy

> How Restart collects, uses, shares, and protects information: accounts and content, analytics and advertising cookies, AI processing, retention, your rights, and how to reach us.

Last updated September 23, 2026.

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how Restart (“Restart”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you use our website and the Restart product (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

## 1. Interpretation and definitions

Words with initial capital letters have the meanings below, whether they appear in singular or plural. “Account” is the unique account created for you to access the Service. “Affiliate” is an entity that controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with a party, where control means ownership of 50% or more of voting securities or equivalent rights. “Cookies” are small files placed on your Device by a website, used to track activity and remember preferences. “Device” is anything that can access the Service — a computer, phone, or tablet. “Personal Data” is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual. “Service” is the Restart product at app.restart.new together with the Website. “Service Provider” is any natural or legal person who processes data on our behalf. “Usage Data” is data collected automatically, generated by use of the Service or its infrastructure, such as how long a page was visited. “Website” is the Restart website at [https://restart.new](https://restart.new) and the older skarmy.ai addresses that redirect to it. “You” is the individual using the Service, or the company or other legal entity on whose behalf that individual is using it. The governing jurisdiction is the United States, and the primary governing state is California.

## 2. Information we collect

Personal Data you provide to us: your first and last name, your email address, a phone number if you give one, payment details (handled by our payment processor, which we do not store ourselves), and any content you submit through the Service — the ideas you describe, the companies built from them, and the changes you ask for. Usage Data, collected automatically: IP address, browser type and version, device identifiers, the pages you visit, timestamps and time spent, referrers and clicks on our buttons, mobile operating system and browser, and diagnostic data. If you start building from this Website, the text you type in the prompt box is passed to the app so your idea isn’t lost on the way in.

## 3. Tracking technologies and cookies

We use Cookies, pixels, tags, and scripts to track activity and improve the Service. You can set your browser to refuse Cookies or alert you when Cookies are being sent; some features may not function without them. The cookies we use fall into these types. Necessary or essential (session, administered by us): authenticate users and prevent fraud. Notice acceptance (persistent, stored in your browser by us): record your choice in the cookie notice. Functionality (persistent, administered by us): remember preferences such as login. Campaign attribution (persistent, 90 days, administered by us): a first-party cookie that records which campaign link brought you here, so the app can credit it when your Account is created. Analytics (persistent, administered by us through PostHog): record page views, referrers, and clicks tied to a device identifier, sent through a first-party endpoint on restart.new; the identifier carries over to app.restart.new so a visit and the account it leads to are counted once. Advertising and targeting (persistent, administered by us and our advertising partners, Google and LinkedIn): measure advertising effectiveness, attribute conversions to ad campaigns, and build remarketing audiences.

## 4. How we use your information

We use Personal Data to provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including building, publishing, and hosting what you create and monitoring its usage; to manage your Account and provide registered-user features; to perform and enforce contracts, including purchases; to contact you by email, phone, SMS, or push notification with updates and security notices; to send you news, offers, and information about similar products and services unless you opt out; to manage and respond to your requests; to evaluate or conduct business transfers such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale; to perform data analysis, identify trends, measure campaign effectiveness, and improve the Service; and to comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements, including fraud prevention, security, and incident response.

## 5. How we share your information

We do not sell your Personal Data. We may share information with Service Providers, to operate, analyze, and support the Service or to contact you; in connection with or during negotiations of a merger, sale, financing, or acquisition; with Affiliates, subject to this Policy; with business partners, to offer products, services, or promotions; with other users or the public, when you publish a company or share information in public areas — a published company is public by design; and with your consent, for any other purpose you authorize.

## 6. Analytics, logs, and advertising technology

We use analytics and logging tools — product analytics, performance monitoring, and crash reporting — to understand usage, improve reliability, and secure the Service. These tools may set Cookies or collect pseudonymous identifiers and usage events. We also use advertising and conversion-measurement technologies provided by Google (the Google tag for Google Ads) and LinkedIn (the LinkedIn Insight Tag) on our public marketing pages. These technologies set Cookies and transmit information such as IP address, user agent, page URL, and referral parameters to those providers so that we can measure advertising performance, attribute conversions to ad campaigns, and build remarketing audiences. We do not “sell” Personal Data for monetary consideration. We may “share” Personal Data for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined by California law (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.140), specifically by transmitting visitor identifiers and interaction data to Google and LinkedIn for ad measurement and targeting. California residents have the right to opt out of this sharing. To exercise it, press “Do not sell my data” in the cookie notice on this Website — which stops our analytics and advertising tags from loading on this and every later visit from that browser — or contact us at [justin@restart.new](mailto:justin@restart.new) with the subject line “Do Not Share My Personal Information”. You may also opt out at the platform level through your Google and LinkedIn ad-personalization settings.

## 7. AI processing

The ideas you describe and the changes you ask for are sent to the AI model providers that do the building, and processed to produce your build — the product working — not to profile you. Those providers are Service Providers under this Policy and are bound by their own terms. Review what Restart builds before you publish or rely on it.

## 8. Retention of Personal Data

We retain Personal Data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Usage Data is typically retained for shorter periods, unless it is required to maintain the security of the Service, improve functionality, or comply with applicable law. When Personal Data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

## 9. International transfers of Personal Data

Restart operates from the United States. Your information, including Personal Data, may be processed and stored at our operating offices and in other jurisdictions where our Service Providers are located, whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country of residence. By submitting Personal Data, you consent to its transfer to and processing in jurisdictions outside your home country. We take reasonable measures to ensure your Personal Data is treated securely and in accordance with this Policy, including requiring adequate safeguards where applicable.

## 10. Your rights to access and delete data

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the Personal Data we hold about you. The Service may allow you to update or delete certain information directly in your account settings. To request complete deletion of your Personal Data, write to [justin@restart.new](mailto:justin@restart.new) from the email on your Account; we will delete the associated Personal Data within 30 days, subject to the retention obligations in Section 8. Certain information may need to be retained where we have a legal obligation, a legitimate business interest, or a need to prevent fraud and abuse. Depending on your location — for example the EEA, the UK, or certain U.S. states — you may have additional rights: access and portability, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and the right to opt out of targeted advertising or profiling. You may also have the right to appeal a decision or lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

## 11. GDPR legal bases

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process Personal Data on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the Service); legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement, and communications about similar services); consent, where required, for example for certain marketing; and legal obligations.

## 12. Disclosure of Personal Data

Business transactions: if Restart is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your Personal Data may be transferred as part of that transaction, and we will provide notice before it becomes subject to a different privacy policy. Law enforcement and legal requests: we may disclose Personal Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities such as courts, regulators, or government agencies. Other legal grounds: we may disclose Personal Data where we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with a legal obligation; protect and defend the rights, property, or safety of Restart; prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing related to the Service; protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public; or protect against legal liability or fraudulent activity.

## 13. Security of Personal Data

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your Personal Data. No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, so while we strive to protect your information, we cannot and do not guarantee its absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your Account credentials secure and limiting unauthorized access to your Devices. How Restart secures the companies people build is on the [security page](https://restart.new/security).

## 14. Security incidents

If we become aware of a security incident that affects your Personal Data, we will investigate and, where required by law, notify you and/or regulators without undue delay, including information about steps you can take to mitigate potential harm.

## 15. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data without verified parental consent, we will promptly delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. Where applicable law requires parental consent for minors, we may request it before collecting or using Personal Data.

## 16. Links to other websites

The Service may contain links to third-party websites that are not operated by us, including the companies people publish with Restart. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site; we encourage you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit. We have no control over, and assume no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

## 17. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy at any time. Updates are posted on this page with the “Last updated” date revised accordingly. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect indicates your acceptance.

## 18. Contact us
